PRESS: Internet giant Yandex wants to control smart homes

MOSCOW, Jul 18 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet giant Yandex will design a device managing household appliances and controlling engineering systems at home, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday, citing an employee of the company.

Yandex’s new device will resemble Google Home, a speaker and voice assistant, in terms of functions, the employee said.

Sales of Google Home – which switches light on and off and controls video on a TV set, among others – started in November 2016, and the gadget currently costs 9,990 rubles on average in Russia.

Yandex has recently offered its first hardware device, smart speaker Yandex.Station, for the same price.
